The Oldest Beer In The World is Discovered in Sweeden

In July 2010, the oldest Champagne in the world was discovered at a shipwreck in the Baltic Sea dating back to the early 1900’s. As divers were excavating the wreck to get to this 200 year old champagne, they found buried underneath it bottles of what is now being considered the oldest consumable beer in the world. Historians are estimating that the ship was most likely travelling from Copenhagen to St. Petersburg somewhere between 1800 and 1830.

This ship has been resting 50 meters below the sea perfectly cellaring the bottles at a stable temperature of 4 to 5C with absolutely zero light exposure. Although brewers are currently working to reconstruct the recipe, authorities challenge that this beer will not be made available for sale or sample.
