If you are unfamiliar with the saga, Scottish Brewer Brew Dog and German Brewer Schorschbräu have been battling back and forth to claim the worlds strongest beer. In February of ’09 Schorschbrau brewed a 31% beer, then Brew Dog came at them with Tactical Nuclear Penguin at 32%. The Germans retaliated with a 40% beer, then Brew dog with Sink the Bismarck at 41%. Recently Schorschbrau has been in the helm since May of 2010 with their Schorschbock reaching 43%… Until now.
Brew Dog has just announced via video press release on their site a new Blond Belgian Ale called The End of History at 55%. And yes, it does come in a bottle that is wrapped around a toy squirrel. And although this hunt for absurdly high alcohol beers has been ridiculous, yet very entertaining, Brew Dog also claims that it is the last one they will ever brew. I’ll be excited to see what comes next from the minds of these two beer explorers.
