The Stone Brewery sells a range of food products and condiments that are made with beer. A recent endeavor into the world of mustards, using a different supplier from what they have been for their other condiments has caused a relatively serious issue. The approximatively 3,000 bottles of Stone Cali-Belgique IPA Cali-Dijon and Stone Pale Ale Stone Ground Mustard with Chipoyle Peppers do not actually have beer in them.
Needless to say, that is rediculous, however it is not quite fair to lay the blame on Stone. According to their public apology video, Stone sent this mustard company kegs of the beer to be used which did come back empty, yet, unknowingly to them, there is no beer in the mustard. People are already calling this a scandal, but I’d say thats ridiculous.
This is Stone we’re talking about. From day one Stone has always been all about their customers – this is no Mustardgate.. This was a mistake, thats all. Their sincere apology video exclaims that if you have one of these mustard bottles, bring it to the the brewery and they will exchange it for a 22oz bottle of the appropriate Stone beer. I only see Stone moving forward in the most honorable and delicious way possible.
