While overall beer sales slow, Craft Beer continues to rise!

2009 U.S. Beer SalesOn March 8th the Brewers Association released new statistics regarding total U.S. beer sales data for 2009. While total beer sales in the United States shrank by approximately 5 million barrels, Craft Beer Sales were up 0.613 million barrels! This comparison may not seem substantial, but this represents a 10.3% increase in sales revenue for Craft Brewers!

My Favorite statistic in the release is that U.S. Craft brewers grew from 1,485 to 1,542 in 2009, and there was zero change in commercial breweries. That means that in one year 57 craft breweries opened up! Honestly I just love the craft beer industry! There are more events than ever every year, and brewers are more innovative than ever! Keep up the good work guys!
